Divine Retribution is a story written exclusively for the Shady Grove. It involves some graphic content, so be warned if you read.

A loud sound has broken the silence of the Forest, though only a handful of deer have awoken to investigate. They discover humans who have tracked them down, and little by little the deer are captured and brought in to a secret testing facility. These humans range from renegade scientists to ex military, and are eager to attempt many cruel experiments on the animals they find.

Those animals are the Endless Forest Deer.

This story has been approved for the forums, but be warned - if you choose your deer to be included, you may not like what happens to them (Don't worry - I'm not going to kill anyone's deer in this story unless you WANT me to). If your deer want to be included, let me know the following:

I had a few other ideas for this story, such as:

- Including a research entry written by one of the humans as they observe each experiment.
- Having a chapter for each experiment (for each deer).


Edit Okay so I've decided that there will be a set of specific experiments, and those deer involved will be randomly assigned an experiment. Below I will list some of the potential experiments (and I am open for ideas, too!) The list isn't finished yet, but here's what I have so far:

- Water Endurance Test (Silent suggested this) - "they'd put the animal in and see how long it could keep it's head above water, then fish it out once it gave up test it's vitals,etc."
- Species Interaction - "The test subject is sedated and placed in a room with easily-frightened pronghorns. They won't be able to defend themselves if the pronghorns choose to overpower them."
- Dissection - "The subject will be restrained, sedated, cut open, and their organs studied."
- Memory Test (Silent) - "Involving shocky floor panels and a timer"
- Ingestion - "The test subject ingests an experimental substance that will cause a bizarre result."
- Experimental Medication (Silent) - "The subject ingests an experimental medication causing a severe reaction."
- Water Suspension Tube - "The subject is suspended in a water tube, and maybe the experiment involves simulated drowning"

Personality: He's....he can be shy but hyper, he's friendly and er nice XD. The typical 'does anything for friends' blabla.

Name: Silent
Personality: An extremely shy stag who's very self conscious and soft spoken. He's quite intelligent however and will overcome his shy ways to offer guidance to others in times of need.
Any particular 'experimentations' you may want done on them (optional): He's not exactly powerful so he wont be any use in endurance tests (even the humans can see that). I'm leaning towards medical testing.

(random note: Silent's missing a good 2/3rds of his lower jaw. His mask hides this but just mentioning that in case someone removes it. He's terribly afraid of others seeing him like this. Added fun! Woo. )

And on another note one of my favorite pastimes is torturing my characters with tragic backstories and generally unpleasant happenings. So kill him, shoot him, skin him, bloody 'eck turn him inside out, ANYTHING. It wont bother me at all XD (I know you worry about these things )

Name: Ophelia [Opi for short]
Personality: She is still a fawn [yet you can make her an adult if you'd like!]. Opi can be rather sneaky and likes to romp around playing tricks on others. Yet she goes into an odd quiet sometimes, ignoring others until they shout into her ears to wake up. All in all she's a funny deer with childish qualities!
Any particular 'experimentations' you may want done on them?: Sure! Do whatever you like and make sure it's twisted >:D

Name: Ravenflight
Personality: Usually quite docile and calm, sometimes playful. Always feels she is responsible for the safety of others (kind of leadership like)

Personality: Loves to be with other deer, and hates being alone. is afraid of wolves.
Any particular experimentations: Maybe shapechanging tests? something turns her into a wolf or something?

...these are regular humans we're talking about here, Moonlitpelts. I think shape changing is beyond them, as it is now. ^_^;

Sorry Moonlitpelts, but I will not include wolves in any of my stories. Just a personal preference.
