It's crazy when you haven't listened to a band for a while, and then you listen to them and am like, "why the hell isn't this on my MP3 player?" In my case, it's Enigma.

I've got their album, Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!, playing in my CD player now, and I'm gonna have to rip it and The Cross of Changes onto my MP3 player. I admit, I've been listening to way too much post-grunge rock and power metal lately that I need to go back to my roots, and Enigma does that for you.

My favorite quote from them is from "Dream of the Dolphin":

In every corner, there's the light.
In every stone sleeps a crystal.
Remember the shaman, when he once said,
"Man is the dream of the dolphin."

So what bands or songs are like a big blast from the past for you?

How about this - have you ever had it where someone just completely bashes a band (or several bands) that you like, but you don't want to say anything because they're bigger than you and you know they'd have a grudge against you every time they saw you?

I've had this happen a few times. I know people tend to dismiss 'popular bands' as crap (I admit I've done that with a few bands), but it's been happening to me a lot lately. I'll be talking to someone about music and they'll be a complete metal head, but they'll say they hate Dragonforce or The All-American Rejects. Or I'll mention country and they'll think I'm gay or something.

Today I had someone just completely bash bands they considered to be 'emo', including two of my favorites, Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. The guy literally said, "I hate bands like Fall Out Faggots and Panic at the Disco. That's the worst band name I've ever heard of, and anyone who listens to them are emo kids who cut their wrists and go to Hot Topic."

Sure, I know people can have their opinions, but I already know this guy has never bothered listening to those bands, and is one of those people who only listens to blackened death metal like Him, In Flames, Mudvayne, ect. Personally, I think people who judge bands based on the reputation given to them shouldn't talk at least until they've listened to the band. Quite honestly, I can't get into blackened death metal like the majority of my 'friends' at college - where they have such a deep voice that you can't understand them, and the song is always about opening the gates of hell or killing babies. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Sorry, I just can't stand people that are that opinionated, especially when it comes to something I love like music.

You know, it has always bugged me when people dismiss a band or genre of music just because it doesn't appeal to them. Somehow they assume their opinion is almighty and all knowing. -spazzes- I personally despise rap music, but that doesn't make rap crap LOLITRHYMES. I wish some people could understand that.
[/mini rant]

I haven't heard their music, but when I hear the name Panic at the Disco, I imagine epileptics at a disco club. :B Thus, I think that's an epic name. xD

As for the original subject, for me it was Lemon Demon. I had listened to their music around three years ago and re-listened to it recently. I had forgotten how much they made me lul. |D

Now I am falling through the air.
Wind and regret flow through my hair.
All I can do right now is stare down at the ocean.
Suddenly, there's a ring in my cell phone. I pick it up.
It's the Angel of Death, and he says "Wazzup?"
I say, "What is it this time?"
And he's like "Well, hello, goodbye, I'll see you in Hell."
He can be like that sometimes, he's such a nut.
So I snicker and say, "I'd love to, but
gravity's calling, I've got some falling to do."

I'm like that |D

._. though...uh I dont like say...Heavy metal because the yelling and all that, it just seems so angry ._. so I dont listen to any of that kind of music. But that doesnt mean it's bad.

But you're right though, I hate rap too (pretty much cos I dont think it's music and it's usually just about getting laid or not getting laid or this chick has big titties) BUT rap in the past wasnt about any of that at all...so I could probably tolerate it so it's not all bad. So I guess you cant just say all rap is bad. I dont think I'm making any sense...|D

So you're saying that just because you dont like that genre...it doesnt make automaically make it bad? Because yeah I agree with that XD

Yeah I'm not trying to say that you have to like every genre. There are some that I can't listen to.

What annoys me is when someone just goes on and on about how much they hate a music genre you really like, and they're bashing it for all the wrong reasons. Fall Out Boy is one of my favorite bands, and I don't cut my wrists, wear black, write depressing poetry, ect. I can't stand people who generalize like that.

Oh yeah, I get you now XD.

Guess it's the same as my friend...she listens to Metallica and that kind of music, but she isnt wearing black and is angry constantly and all the stereotypes that people make up with that genre.
