Here's another genre I really like! Post-grunge bands evolved from Grunge bands, who were the kinds of people who practiced their music in their garages. They are described as "Their music may often incorporate the distorted guitar, angst-filled lyrics and 'loud-quiet' dynamics of grunge, but employ more commercial or 'radio-friendly' production and mastering. Post-grunge also tends to be driven more by musical lyrics than by tune."
Actually, there are quite a lot of Post-grunge bands, and from
the list I'm a fan of quite a few of them (some of these I didn't even know were classified as post-grunge)
- 10 Years
- 3 Doors Down
- Audioslave
- Breaking Benjamin
- Collective Soul
- Daughtry
- Hinder
- Live
- Nickelback
- Puddle of Mudd
- Shinedown
- Staind
I always thought Bon Jovi would be on that list, but apparently his band is considered Hard Rock.
Anyway, other bands you may be familiar with that are Post-grunge include:
- 30 Seconds to Mars
- Alien Ant Farm
- Alter Bridge
- Better Than Erza
- Bush
- Candlebox
- Chevelle
- Creed
- Finger Eleven
- Foo Fighters
- Fuel
- Godsmack
- Goo Goo Dolls
- Hoobastank
- Lifehouse
- Matchbox Twenty
- Papa Roach
- The Presidents of the United States of America
- Saliva
- Saving Abel
- Seether
- Silverchair
- Stone Sour
- Sugar Ray
- Switchfoot
- Theory of a Deadman
- Third Eye Blind
- Three Days Grace
- Trapt
- The Verve Pipe
This is actually kind of surprising. I didn't realize that so many bands I'm familiar with were Post-grunge! Maybe this can be what I say would be my 'official' genre of music, despite being a fan of so many other kinds of music.
So yeah, of the Post-grunge bands listed, are there any you're a fan of?
