I've made a video, and saved it as a project. It's about 9 minutes long. So I want to convert it into a WMV file. So I do so. I go through the conversion menu, and get this: To clear the memory, I turn off the computer and turn it off at the plug for about half an hour. I try again. Now I have this: What you can't see on the picture is that the 'minute count' is going up by about one a second. It started out at about 450, and as of this moment it's been running for about 2 and a half days. It's on around 551300

hmmmmm - thats really quite bizzare. I think I had something like this - My Half Life 2 video I made was rather long and Movie Maker kicked a huge stink about it. I'm really not sure about this problem.... but perhaps save the video in parts - like if you have videos in your project try to keep it down to 5 videos at a time and then just put it all together I'm not even sure if its the same problem - but its worth a shot >.>

How can I save the video in parts...? Unless there's a way of putting it together after with a program other than WMM?

Eh. That would mean re-making the whole thing. About a month's-worth. ...oh well.

What exactly have you got? Is it just a few movies bolted together, or have you added other stuff to the project like fades and titles? Anyway, you really should download and get to grips with Virtualdub You can do all kinds of things with that, like cropping your video's, extracting the sound from them, splitting your video's up into different parts, frame by frame editing, and loads more!

On realization my method would work but the results would be fruitless Because the movie is soooo long and once you save it into 5 parts or more and put it together you would have to do it again >.> and again.....etc until you have 5 clips of condensed footage and then the quality would go down the crapper not to mention compressing it for youtube :S I try to steer clear of Movie maker as much as possible Its a real hindrance and always crashes on me

The whole shebang. I wanted it to be really good, it's edited to the gills, and is a compilation of Fraps clips and pictures. With a few titles thrown in at the beginning and end.

I know, and I plan on getting it, I just want to be able to transfer this project over to it! All that you said can be done in WMM, true, so it would make sense to switch over, but this took me -ages-. So I'm gonna carry on looking for a loophole and randomly trying again until I have no choice. |

Well, if you can't get it sorted and you're willing to upload all the required files, I'm willing to download them and convert it in WMM for you! (Just don't forget to include the project file) If you do, zip the whole lot up, and upload it. FileFactory allows up to 300mb! (If it's bigger than 300mb, you can split the zip up with Winzip)

FYI, you can download Windows Movie Maker 2.0 (XP) from hereThat may come in handy, should you require a re-install of Movie Maker!

I might do that. >.< I can't even zip the bloody thing. I'm gonna try a different methods, hold on a bit. But I didn't know it was such a big file size! I really think it's the cruddy computer and not the video, but there's a lot of hope there too.
